Saint Michael's Introduces Physician Referral Phone Service

NEWARK, N. J. (September 3, 2009) –– Saint Michael’s Medical Center has announced the launch of a new toll-free physician referral phone service. Prospective patients can call (877) ST MIKE 4 ME (877-786-4546) and receive a prompt referral to a Saint Michael’s physician based on their medical need.

The service, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, is provided in partnership with Beryl Companies, a vendor that provides a variety of call center solutions to health-care providers. Callers provide information that includes their address, their payment method or insurance provider, and what type of specialist they are seeking. Callers can also specify criteria such as foreign languages spoken, geographic location, and their preference to work with a male or female doctor.

“The new Saint Michael’s physician referral service is one of many initiatives we are unveiling to improve not only the services we offer our patients, but also the ease-of-practice we provide to our physicians,” said Robert H. Evans, chief executive officer of Saint Michael’s Medical Center.
