Dinner
Dance to Benefit NEWARK, N.J. (September 22, 2008) — The Connie Dwyer Breast Center at Saint Michael's Medical Center will host a fundraising dinner dance, Harvest of Hope -— Hope for the Women of Newark, at Mayfair Farms restaurant in West Orange on Saturday, October 4. The event, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., will honor the work of Louis J. Perl, M.D., director of Breast Imaging Services at The Connie Dwyer Breast Center. Dr. Perl joined the medical staff in March 2005, seeing it as an opportunity to help build an interventional program that would benefit residents of Newark and the surrounding communities. “I'm proud to say that the services we offer — from diagnostic services, to radiology-oncology, medical oncology, and surgery — have made a profound difference in the lives of our patients and their families,” said Dr. Perl. “Our early intervention, education, and outreach efforts have resulted in a 75 percent increase in the number of patients who are being diagnosed and treated at the first stage of breast cancer, when the prognosis is best.” Certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology, Dr. Perl is a member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, and the Radiological Society of New Jersey. He graduated cum laude from Rutgers University and earned his M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Perl and his wife, Ilene, are residents of Short Hills, New Jersey, and have three daughters and six grandchildren. Dr. Perl is a member of Congregation Ahavat Torah, Short Hills, and Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael, Springfield. Tickets to the dinner dance are $250, and proceeds will support the mission of The Connie Dwyer Breast Center. Elegant denim attire is encouraged.
