A Commitment to Compassionate Care in the North Ward

With emergency care, primary care, prenatal services, and centralized scheduling for additional services at Saint Michael’s Medical Center, the Columbus Campus continues to play a vital role in providing health care for Newark's North Ward community.

Saint Michael’s Medical Center now operates a 24-hour satellite emergency department at the Columbus Campus seven days a week. With the unit fully staffed and equipped, the North Ward community can continue to use the emergency room as it has for decades. The unit makes referrals for inpatient, outpatient, and clinic services at nearby Saint Michael’s Medical Center. The Columbus Campus also continues to offer prenatal care, now connecting expectant mothers in the North Ward community to area hospitals for their deliveries and peri-natal services. Imaging services also continue at the campus, and plans are in place to pursue ambulatory surgery services.
