At the Regional Cancer Center at Saint Michael's Medical Center — a patient-friendly, one-story building featuring an abundance of natural light and a wonderfully open sense of space — a dedicated team of physicians, nurses, technical, and support staff works to provide patients with the best in medical, surgical, and radiation oncology services.
The staff uses the latest cancer-care technology available, including Varian 21 EX linear accelerators, the most sophisticated machines available for intensity modulated radiation therapy, a dedicated CT simulator, computer-based external beam and brachytherapy dose planning systems, and three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy, which focuses radiation to target the geometric shapes of tumors, thus sparing healthy tissue. The Regional Cancer Center also offers important ancillary services, including valet parking, support groups, an on-site pharmacy, a nutrition center, access to social services, and a phlebotomy lab. The Center's medical leadership includes Dr. Glen Gejerman, director of Radiation Oncology, and Dr. Gunwant Guron, director of Hematology/Oncology.
